How to Set Cooldowns for Blerp Alerts
Managing your stream can be a challenge, especially when multiple alerts are triggered simultaneously. Cooldowns offer an essential way to prevent overlapping alerts, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience for both you and your viewers. In this guide, we'll walk you through setting up cooldowns on Blerp, helping you maintain a seamless stream environment.
Why Cooldowns Matter
Cooldowns help you manage how often viewers can trigger alerts, preventing disruptions and keeping your stream’s audio clean and organized. Whether it’s Blerp sound bites, TTS messages, or WalkOn alerts, properly setting up cooldowns is crucial for maintaining the quality of your stream.
Step 1: Accessing Your Cooldown Settings
- Navigate to Blerp Settings
- First, go to blerp.com and log in to your account. From there, locate the Settings option in the left-side menu.
- Select 'Cooldown & Queue'
- Once in the settings menu, click on Cooldown & Queue. This section is where you can customize how your alerts behave, including setting cooldowns and managing your alert queue.
Step 2: Adjusting Queue Settings
Before setting cooldowns, it’s essential to decide how you want your alerts to behave when multiple are triggered at the same time.
- Overlay vs. Queue
- In your queue settings, you’ll find options to either Overlay alerts or Queue them.
- Overlay: This allows multiple alerts to play simultaneously, which might be chaotic if not managed well.
- Queue: This ensures alerts play one after another, avoiding overlaps and maintaining a clean audio experience.
Choose the setting that best fits your stream’s style and needs.
Step 3: Setting General Cooldowns
Next, set up general cooldowns to manage how often viewers can trigger Blerp alerts or TTS messages.
- Channel Cooldown:
- This is the cooldown period that applies to your entire channel. It’s the time before any viewer can trigger another alert after one has just been played.
- Recommended setting: 10 seconds
- User Cooldown:
- This is the cooldown period for individual users, preventing the same viewer from spamming alerts in quick succession.
- Recommended setting: 30 seconds
Note: If you're using Twitch channel points for Blerp redemptions, remember that Twitch manages its own cooldown system. You can adjust these settings by shift-clicking in the Twitch Channel Points screen to change cooldowns for multiple rewards at once.
Step 4: Setting WalkOn Cooldowns
WalkOn alerts add a personal touch to your stream by allowing viewers to play a special sound when they enter the chat. However, to prevent these from becoming repetitive or disruptive, setting an appropriate cooldown is essential.
- WalkOn Cooldown:
- This sets the minimum time before a viewer can trigger their WalkOn sound again.
- Recommended minimum: 1 day
This ensures that WalkOn alerts remain special and aren’t overused by viewers.
